Worn Teeth
Achieve a beautiful new smile with our custom designed treatment plans
What causes worn teeth?
Worn teeth can be cause by a number of different reasons, these include:
- Erosion (progressive loss of tooth enamel by a chemical or acid – can be caused by excessive carbonated drinks e.g. Soft Drinks, Sparkling Water, Fruit Juice with high acidity etc; or by the chemical reflux of ‘GORD’ – Eating disorders – e.g. anorexia, bulimia)
- Attrition (Tooth loss from grinding and contact with opposing teeth – common in people who clench or grind their teeth habitually)
- Abrasion (Incorrect use of mechanical actions; this can be caused by incorrect brushing habits and is often seen in individuals using their teeth ti remove bottle tops, hold pins or clips etc.)
How can I fix my worn teeth:
Porcelain Crowns and Veneers
Crowns are used to replaced damaged teeth; often back molars that cannot be restored with a basic filling. Vaneers are commonly used for aesthetic purposes; such as worn down teeth that are short in length or need re-shaping.
A crown encases an entire tooth whilst a veneer only covers the front surface of a tooth. Crowns are also thicker than Vaneers. Crowns are generally used towards the back of the mouth; whilst Veneers are designed for the anterior (front) teeth.
Crowns and Veneers are permanent solutions! They are long-last but will require touch-ups and replacements further down the line.
Both crowns and veneers are made out of porcelain, a strong and resilient material, which conveniently replicated the colour, shape and overall look of perfect, healthy teeth. You can receive various types of Veneers and Crowns – anything from a naturalistic colour to that famous “Hollywood Smile”. Veneers and Crowns are uniquely designed and tailored to achieve your desired result.
Dental Implants:
If your tooth is unsalvageable, you may consider a Dental Implant, A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is surgically inserted into the jawbone-space of a removed or lost tooth. Once this is complete, a porcelain crown or bridge is fitted and secured to your implant, creating a brand new tooth that looks and feels completely natural. The most suitable implant depends on your individual situation; this also applies with the options to have one or multiple implants.
