Porcelain Veneers
& Crowns

We are ready to transform your smile
What are they?

At some stage in our lives, we all look at our teeth wishing for more.. whether we’re comparing ourselves to Hollywood stars, or admiring the perfectly proportioned teeth of a co-worker.. when we smile into a mirror, we can help but dream of our perfect teeth.

Turn that dream into a reality with Porcelain Crowns and Veneers!  PC&V’s are forms of dental restorations used in the cosmetic industry to achieve long lasting and aesthetically pleasing results when redesigning your smile.

Both crowns and veneers are made out of porcelain, a strong and resilient material, which conveniently replicated the colour, shape and overall look of perfect, healthy teeth. You can receive various types of Veneers and Crowns – anything from a naturalistic colour to that famous “Hollywood Smile”. Veneers and Crowns are uniquely designed and tailored to achieve your desired result.

What is the significant difference between the two?

Before committing to either Porcelain Crowns or Vaneers, it’s important to understand the differences between the two!

Crowns are used to replaced damaged teeth; often back molars that cannot be restored with a basic filling. Vaneers are commonly used for aesthetic purposes; such as mildly discoloured teeth, stained teeth, teeth that show enamel cracks, teeth that are short in length or need re-shaping.

A crown encases an entire tooth whilst a veneer only covers the front surface of a tooth. Crowns are also thicker than Vaneers. Crowns are generally used towards the back of the mouth; whilst Veneers are designed for the anterior (front) teeth.

Compared to crowns, Vaneers are require much less trimming, and therefore less if the tooth is sacrificed. The reason that crowns are thicker, stronger and require a denser trim is because they are designed to completely replace the functions of a tooth, instead of just the aesthetic.

Crowns and Veneers are permanent solutions! They are long-last but will require touch-ups and replacements further down the line.

What is their purpose? How would Porcelain Veneers and Crowns benefit me?

PC&V’s have multiple purposes within the cosmetic field. They help fix:

  • Spaces or gaps between teeth
  • Crooked teeth
  • Broken, cracked or chipped teeth
  • Discoloured or stained teeth
  • Teeth that have been worn down
  • Covering teeth that show enamel cracks
  • Teeth that are short in length
  • Reshaping or building on teeth
  • Achieving the shape and colour you desire.
The Process

The process for Veneers is simple. An impression of your teeth will be taken to properly mould and design the new (porcelain) teeth. When they are ready to go one, Dr. Dong will trim approximately 1mm from your tooth to make room for the Veneer. Once this is completed and the veneer/s have bonded to the front of your tooth, your basically good to go!

The process of a crown placement is a little more complex. This requires two appointments – one for a crown preparation and another for the cementing of the crown. The preparation takes place so that Dr Dong can take an impression of your mouth and send it to the technician. He will then create a temporary tooth for you which stands in the crowns place until the actual tooth arrives a week later. You will need to come back and have the tooth cemented into your mouth. Once this is done, you have your brand new tooth!

Choosing between Vaneers or Crowns ultimately comes down to your desired result and the needs of your teeth. Both of which can be discussed during a consultation with Dr Dong.
